FAQ

Is it possible to fly a drone at high altitudes without a license?

The FAA doesn't limit how high you can fly your drone. The FAA does require you to register unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), which include the registration number of your model, weight and size, serial numbers, manufacturer's names, date manufactured and other information.

What is the main difference between a quadcopter or a helicopter?

A quadcopter, a four-rotor helicopter, flies just like a helicopter. It has four rotors which rotate independently. The hexacopter can be described as a quadcopter but has six rotors, instead of the usual four. Hexacopters have more stability and maneuverability than quadcopters.

How To

How to Fly Drones with Beginners

A drone is a remote-controlled aircraft used for aerial photography, cinematography, surveillance, scientific research, and hobby purposes. The technology behind drones has been around since World War II. DJI's Phantom quadcopters became commercially available in 2010. Since then, there have been many different types of drones available, from beginner-friendly models like the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 to professional-grade multi-rotor craft like the DJI Mavic Pro.

There are many ways to fly a drone.

  1. Remote control - This allows you to control the drone from your hand. There are two main types: Joysticks (like a radio), and On/Off switches (like an alarm clock).
  2. Manual Control – This method lets users remotely control the drone by using a smartphone app. Follow the instructions of the app to track the exact location you want the drone go.
  3. Autonomous Flying - This allows the drone to take over all of the piloting duties. It is basically flying autonomously and without human intervention. It must have a builtin camera, sensors capable of taking images and data to enable autonomous flight.
  4. Triggered Flight: This is similar in concept to manual control. The pilot manually creates a route and the drone then follows it until it reaches that endpoint. After the preprogrammed route is complete, the drone will automatically land and return to its base.
  5. Landing Gear- Some drones include landing gear that allows for safe landing if the power goes out or they run out of batteries.
  6. Goggles: Some pilots use goggles in order to protect themselves against debris when operating.
  7. Camera – Some drones have cameras, which allow you to take photos or videos from up high.
  8. Obstacles – Some drones have obstacle avoidance systems that stop them from colliding with obstacles.
  9. Speed - Some drones can travel at speeds over 40 mph.
  10. Battery Life: Most drones have a battery life of between 20 and 30 minutes depending on how many power sources you use.
  11. Range - Depending on the model, some drones can travel up to 30 miles away.
  12. Power source - Not all drones can use an external power source. Others can run on internal batteries.
  13. Weight – Some drones are less than one pound, while other models can be up to four pounds.
  14. Size - Drones can range in size from tiny devices that can fit in your palm to heavy crafts that weigh 50 pounds.
  15. Price - All drones fall within a specific price range, from high-end models that can cost thousands of dollars to lower-cost options starting at $100.
