Drones and ISIS Combat

The United States, Russia and other countries all want more modern aircraft. However, Ukraine doesn't have the same resources as the United States to train its soldiers to fly these aircraft. While the Ukrainians do have training on aircraft and vehicles in Western countries like Germany, they are not able to get the same training on drones in Ukraine. Ukrainians are accustomed to older equipment like trucks so drones make it easier to use. Drones can be operated by soldiers without the need for pilots. Drones are also easy to use, similar to those in video games.

Aerorozvidka

Ukrainian military uses an unusual approach to fighting ISIS in east Ukraine. Octocopters are equipped with thermal cameras and can be used for night-time missions. Some drones can even light up columns and are equipped with anti-tank weapons. These drones are highly maneuverable and can carry as much as 11 lbs of payload. The drones' small size means they can fly low over targets and drop munitions.

Aerorozvidka was founded as an IT enthusiasts group. However, it has evolved to become a military reconnaissance unit. The organization's first mission was as a civilian drone company, but over time, it evolved into a full-fledged unit with its own head. Because of export control, the Ukrainian government prevented Russian military planes from entering the country. Aerorozvidka relies upon crowdfunding and donations to maintain its existence since many of its components are manufactured in the US.

Switchblade

The U.S. military is supplying Ukraine with armed "Switchblade" drones, which are able to strike Russian tanks from miles away. These unmanned aerial vehicles were developed by the US Air Force in response to Ukrainian requirements. John Kirby (Pentagon spokesperson) stated that more then 121 of these machines have been dispatched to Ukraine. The Switchblades' use in the conflict in Ukraine is unknown.

The Switchblade drone is small and easy to launch from a tube. It has a range 40 km. The Switchblade can hit Russian convoys from 6 miles away, unlike Bayraktar drones. In a conflict like Ukraine, these small aircraft can be set up in minutes. The Switchblade can fly faster than the Bayraktar which is currently the U.S. ally.

Russian kamikaze drones

Recently, the US announced a $800 million military aid package to Ukraine. One of those packages includes the delivery of 121 unmanned planes, known as "Phoenix Ghosts," that are designed to terrorize Russian troops. These unmanned aircraft can fly for 30 to 40 minutes over large areas and are equipped with cameras and warheads. Switchblade is one such drone. It's a hovering munition measuring 5.5 pounds, and it can eliminate armored vehicles as well as tanks.

These small, light aircrafts come equipped with a powerful, low flight gimbal which allows them to operate from either air, ground, or water. Any advantage an opponent has over their counterpart in an aerial battle like this is vital. Russian kamikaze aircrafts pose a threat to that advantage. This capability will prove to be critical for Ukraine's defense, since it can break Russian sieges as well as attack command-and-control centers. Although such capabilities could be a liability for both sides it could make a significant difference in the battlefield and help Ukraine emerge victorious.

U.S. loitering drones

Russia has begun integrating its ZALA KYB loitering munitions into the military arsenal of the country. These drones can be used in the same way as bazookas to carry out lethal loitering operations. The use of loitering drones may lead to the proliferation of these autonomous killing machines in black markets. However, observers and pundits worry about this. What can the U.S. do?

Kirby states that the U.S. government had sent more than 121 Switchblade loitering drones into Ukraine to aid Kiev defeat Russian forces. The Switchblade drone weighs 5.5 pounds and can hover for up to thirty to forty minutes. It is fitted with a camera and a small warhead. Its purpose is to destroy the opposition forces in Ukraine.

How To

Repairing a damaged motor on a drone

First, identify the broken part of the motor to repair it. The easiest way to do this is to remove the propeller from the motor shaft. You should then remove the wires that are attached to the motor, and examine the inner workings. If there is something wrong with the motor, you will know which part you need to repair.

You don't need to worry if there's no damage to your motor. However, a motor that looks like the one below will require you to replace certain components before you can fly again.

Imagine a motor that isn't turning anymore because it has been bent. The motor must be bent again. For this purpose, you could use a vice grip to hold the motor and bend it back into shape. After this is done, you should inspect the motor carefully for any signs or wear.

Once everything looks good, you can put the propeller back on the motor shaft. Then, reattach the wires. Now your drone is ready to fly!
